6 easy and cheep projects for kids of All ages

Art is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known.
-Oscar Wilde

I believe that children should learn through art and play! I often can find myself wishing my son (2yrs old) would have mastered art like an 8 or 9 year old. But I found that you cannot CONTROL the mess and fun that art and play brings into the house. No, seriously moms, let them make a mess! The ideas above are things that your 9 year old and 2 year old could all do together! They will turn out completely different and be smiler in the same, makes for a wonderful experience!

I will tell you how to prep for each art project, most of the things that you need can be made at home, or are WAY cheep! My husband and I are in a tight spot and I did these for less than 2.00 a piece!!  This was so wonderful I just had to share it with the fellow mothers in the world.
 HAPPY CRAFTING!!

Leaf Stamping!

Ok so take a walk, pick up all the leaves you can :) When you get home all you will need is your paint, and some paper!  Paint one side of your leaf all sorts of colors then stamp your leaf onto the paper! Lost of possibilities with this one!

Turkey Print

All you need for this one is an imagination and some paint! paint the palm of your hand one color and fingers another, make your Turkey as bright, wild and Colorful as you want!! So much variety!

Print Turkey!!

I love these! I have one for each year, I can literally see how my son grew this year! Paint your hands to create the fan for the tail feathers, than paint your foot for the body! (i know it tickles... lol)

Fall Tree
You need paper, paper and paper.... well and glue too. To prep for this one for little kids, tear up some fall colored paper, have some brown paper to trace their hand and arm for the trunk. Also cut a plain paper into the shape of a tree canopy  then glue, glue, glue!

Leaf puppets

Remember those leaves you gathered a few crafts back?!? Glue some to the end of Popsicle sticks add googly eyes, and you have an instant FUN! Really easy and you can play for hours with the right imagination!

Exploding Leaf
Place some leaves on a piece of paper, and color over them with a piece of crayon, or chalk. (we used both) voila explosion

PLAY WITH FOOD!!

OK growing up I ALWAYS got in trouble for playing with my food, but this was a fun craft! you need any food items that you can glue to paper and it wont spoil. IE rice, noodles, beans ECT.
Draw out a picture (like the acorn up top) or print a picture just google 'easy coloring pages for children' in images, BUNCH will show up!

How to get rid of nasty roaches!

How to get rid of cockroaches!

And Do It Yourself!

We have been having issues getting rid of these nasty bugs! We have tried EVERYTHING and nothing really worked! And most of it was WAY expensive!  First cockroaches are attracted to paper, the smell of paper admits a smell that smells like the hormon they put out to tell the others they found food, so -

STEP 1: Get rid of ALL paper stacks.

STEP 2:  Pull out kitchen appliances; such as your stove and fridge; clean and kill as many as you can see, i found that viniger, bleach, and water did best with a spray bottle.

Step 3: Make the KILL solution! you will need flour (whole, or wheat doesnt  matter), Borax, and sugar. Mix together 2 c. of each ingredient.

This is the solution when done.
put this under your appliances and line your window sills with it. If you have kids or pets, it is not toxic but if they get into it give them a glass of milk or water and take them to the doc to be sure nothing will happen.

The flower in the solution makes the roaches sick, and the borax kills them. The sugar is to attract them.

Lay it down thick! The more they eat, the more they die!!

<<< is a picture of how me putting it on the floor under my fridge and stove, I just spooned it.

be prepared it will take about 3 waves of 'babies' going to eat this before they will be gone for sure, but IT WILL WORK

:) good luck!

Camping teast for the boys, over easter weekend! GRATE IDEA!!

My husband and I were talking about wanting to go camping this summer. We are very outdoorsy people, but since having our oldest boy, we haven't been camping but once! At this point were wondering how out two boys would do camping out in the wilderness... well, not wanting to waste money on gas, and the time to drive out of the city to find out we decided that trying it out in the back yard was best. my oldest (Kie) is almost 2 now, and we wanted to see how HE would sleep in a tent.
Kie and Daddy cooking their dogs
I shouldn't have been too surprised when he wanted to go inside to his warm and comfy bed instead of sleeping in the tent.  We set the tent up in the back yard, and took apart an older BBQ grill to make a fire place. Kie loved to 'cook' his dinner over the fire while sitting with daddy!  He was very ex sided to realize that he could actually eat the hotdog at the end of the stick he was holding! All this time, the baby(Xander), was sleeping in the tent! Xander would do grate camping... but big brother isn't quite ready yet! LOL
<----- His reaction when I told him that he could eat the hotdog for dinner.

Home made pedilite drink for kids and adults!

Do It Yourself Electrolyte Drink

When our kids get sick my husband and I automatically go, "we need pedilite" but it gets coustly when you have a whole wave of sickness hitting your house. (those who have more than one kid know what I mean!) So we started the surch for a drink that did the same thing but that we can make at home, and it cost less for more!

You will need 1 cup of apple juice (any brand is good), 2 cups of water, 1 teaspoon of salt and the juice of 1 lemon.  All you have to do is mix it all together and enjoy (in between coughs that is :) ) DON'T FORGET that the juice dose need to be refrigerated, and is best served cold. If whom ever has a sore through warm 1 cup at a time to perverse the whole 'batch'.

Arthritis anyone? This may just help!

Arthritis Home Remedies

First off, a healthy diet is recommended. NO "junk foods" or foods with lots of dressing, and fried food. This will make your arthritis worsen! Junk foods, dressings, and fried foods are considered the "triggers" of arthritis. Try to avoid these triggers to help keep your joints and body healthier.

POULTICE

You will need a 3 inch piece of fresh ginger, and olive oil. First you peel and mince your ginger finely. Then, you mix with just enough olive oil to make a paste. After you get a paste apply to your painful joint. It might be helpful to you if you wrap your joint that has the paste as to hold the past in place.  apply for 10-15 minuets then wash off with warm water. NOTE:: For extra relief warm the  paste before applying!

MINTY PAIN RELIEF

You will need, 2 cups of fresh mint leaves, olive oil, 1 table spoon of rubbing alcohol, and 3-4 drops of tincture of benzine. First you will loosely fill a small jar with your mint leaves. Cover with olive oil to fill jar, and add alcohol. Set jar on a sunny window to seep for 2 weeks. Then, Add tincture of benzine to preserve. store in cool dark place. And rub on joints as needed.

rant about life

LIFE

Does it ever feel like life is just there to suffocate you? I love my husband, and my two boys! But my family is having all sorts of problems right now! It seems we cant go a day with out a reminder that, neither my husband or I have a job, that my husband quit a stable income to go to school! I AM BEHIND HIM 100%, but at the moment it feels like life is just trying to suffocate our family out! My husband is getting depressed, and I cant keep my at home business going!

When I married my husband, I gave up a lot. My chance to finish high school, and attached to that, my chance at an individual future. I also gave him my entire self. When I announced to my step mom, Tammy, that we were getting married she told me something I wish that I never forgot. She said, "Never forget who you are, as an individual. Take care of yourself before each other, because if you don't you will become one person, and that is when the problems start."

She is right, and I forgot to take care of my self too. I don't mind having financial difficulties, fore this is not new to my life style. I have never been 'well off' but I am having a hard time having to ask for the help we need! Growing up, I was thought that asking for help was showing weakness. So now, I have to talk my self into asking for help when I should just be able to.

Ms. Maddy

If you have a dog, you will most likely outlive it; to get a dog is to open yourself to profound joy and, prospectively, to equally profound sadness.

Marjorie Garber

As of early this morning around 12:30 or 1:00 my best friend passed on. Ms. Maddy died of old age. This was and is a terrible experience for me. late last night Jake called out the door for her to come inside like we usually do after a while outside. I heard him ask "Maddy are you alright?" for some reason this is what grabbed my attention. I was sitting by the fire place starting a fire to warm our room, when he came through the door caring Maddie. She never lays on her side, you see, and when he found her in the yard she was on her side and we knew then that she was dieing. she acted like she was having seazers, I called a vet but don't have the money to pay them today, so they turned us away! so all I could do was read scriptures while she died right in my lap!

Only 2 hours before my son was "barking" at her, and she was barking back. But that is the last time we both heard her at all! I don't know what to tell Kie, he will be crushed. he has quite an adult head on his solders for such a little 18 month old!  He cried for days when we had to give the puppy away, and we have had Maddy longer!(Psalm 48:14) For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called rainbow bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

have a cough? have a cold? This will help!

Milk and Honey

when you have a cough warming a glass of milk, and adding about 1 tablespoon of honey will help chase it away! I do this often for my children because it dose the same thing as the pharmacy cough medicine, only these items can come from your own pantry!

Ginger tea and Honey

If you have a cold making some ginger tea and sweetening with honey will help you! In a medium sauce pan boil some water. Mean while peal the skin off your ginger root and cut 3 1/2 inch pieces about the size of a 50 cent piece. when the water is boiling, add the ginger root to the pan. boil it until the water turns to a yellowish color. DO NOT LET IT BOIL TO MUCH LONGER, or the tea will be too strong for anyone to be able to keep it down. poor your cup and top off with 1, 2 or 3 teaspoons of honey! I make this for my husband when he gets sick, we have a joke that when I ask him how much honey he says the whole bottle! (he isn't a tea man.) I don't think you will  a whole lot just enough that you start to taste the honey.

<3

I hope that these natural home remedies can help you feel better soon! I will possibly put more up to help with other things. Such as, asthma, sore muscles, and headaches!!

halloween with the kids

 Halloween 2012

This year for Halloween we all went trick-or-treating at our church. KIE got lots of candy for mom and dad to eat (lol just kidding!) Xander was a zebra, as seen on the left! he is officially the cutest zebra ever! KIE supported a duck costume with orange foot socks. There is no picture of mom, but she supported a beutifulily made pioneer

costume. And dad was a cowboy, raining in a duck and a zebra all night. :) We took turns taking the boys around the church door-to-door to trick-or-treat.

all in all halloween was an awsome experince this year! thanks to all those who helped with costuming mom and Xander! (AKA Susan Parsons!)

hope you all had a wonderful holiday too! God Bless!

Thinking about trying this

I am thinking about trying to do this above my bed, I am trying to make my room a lot nicer. Its oddly shaped so I am not sure if it will work.  Here is a layout of my room, where do you think I should put my bed?

Please keep in mind I also have 2 dressers and 2 bedside tables that have to go with the bed.

And at the end of the bed I have to put a bassinet for a while.

These Paintings are by Graig Olsen

Of late I have been looking into my religion a lot more, with the questions i have. The questions i know my son will have. At every meal my 16 month old son will fold his arms and look at me, telling me to say the blessing or he will(and there is many days that he dose-with help :D). The picture to the top reminds me of my son, he is so new that the little boy in the picture could be him. It seems that my little Kie is always teaching me, not I teaching him! It seems that he walks closer to God, than us. I always remind my self that when God knocks we need to answer, but lately I have found that I wasn't listening!

I have started reading again, and I have been praying more during the day;not just the nights. These paintings remind me everyday that it is okay to fallow the example of your children, not

just lead. I pray that I can look to my future to walking with God, as well as my son walks with him(or so it seems).

                     ~Sammantha Parsons

This cracked me up! It looks like something I would do for my husband!
Here soon I will most likely be doing it for my son's too, they both are
growing so darn fast! soon they will be kicking my butt at games!

Anything New

I try to tell myself this every time I get frustrated! There is truth in what the picture says.

Angels Among US

Angels among us

" Oh I believe there are angels among us.
Sent down to us from somewhere up above.
They come to you and me in our darkest hours.
To show us how to live, to teach us how to give.
To guide us with the light of love. "

~ Alabama

Today I met an Angel, she helped my family and I in a time of need. I usually help others, I'm not used to needing help from other people. I truly believe that God sent Michelle to help me this week. My oldest son just grew out of his largest clothes (18-24 month clothing) and Michelle asked me to meet her at a .25 cent sale where she bought my boys some clothes and toys to go towards Christmas! I am grateful, because we wouldn't have been able to get them much because Jake has been home on medical leave to help me with the boys so I can heal from the birth. (he goes back to work soon; I'm going to miss him during the day!) Due to it being for 'maternity leave' he didn't get payed, thus we wont have a check to spend towards Christmas until January! Michelle made it to where we can give a little to our boys this year, even if we can scramble up something! So I would like to take a moment and thank God for the 'angels' that he sends our way in our time of need!

"My gracious Heavenly Father,

Today I bow my head in prayer to thank the of the help, and blessings you have sent our way. I pray that to all those who are deserving they receive you help in their time of need. Please watch over the firefighters as they fight to keep our land safe, I ask that you bless those who have lost their homes, and that you can watch over all of your children in this time of danger."

In the name of Thy son, Jesus Christ,

Amen

a lauph for the day!

today has been long and tiring i saw this and it made me laugh, i thought i would share!

The Best Things In Life .....

 The Best Things In Life....

Today I got a chance to help a person who served our country. This vet's wife died 2 years ago, and shortly after his mother went too. After the funeral he was having coffee with his sister, and out of the blue he told her, "I'm going for a walk." That's where his journey started, his journey from Florida to see the oceans that touches California.

I met him at the park here in Boise, he was walking from person to person. He had slept in the park and someone robbed him, of his backpack, his only money (a grand 10 dollars) and of his watch. He was asking for 5 dollars to get bread and lunch meat, I watched at person after person told him to go away, and to leave them alone.  About to give up, he started to walk to his favorite place in the park; a bench just inside the entrance, away from the playground, the fountains, and the people; i asked him if he was able to get the 5 dollars he needed. This man was not dirty, did not look like the bum that the people made him out to be, he did not smell of cigarets or booze, he looked like he had been walking for ages and needed help. I told him that I could help him get a backpack and maybe some food.

While I was bringing him to my house to get him the backpack, he confided in me and told me about his travels. When he asked my name, and I answered Samantha, he cried, that was his late wife's name. He told me of his travels, and his sickness that was killing him. This vet wanted to see the United States, the home he fought for, before he died.  This picture reminded me of him, its like God was calling for that person to come here, for me to meet him. When we return back to the park he asked my husband to lead a pryer.

I am grateful that I got a chance to meet him before it was time for him to move on to the next town. he reminded me that my family is what is important and that life is short, shorter for some, and that I should live it and have fun.

.... Aren't Things
